Il Giro di Sicilia: Dayer Quintana 3rd. Victory in the teams classification.

All day in attack for the team directed by Luca Amoriello and Luca Scinto that have put in the 13 riders breakaway started after a very fast first hour Davide Gabburo and Dayer Quintana. The problem for the escapees was that there were too many riders close in the general classification to the leader Brandon McNulty and so both Rally Cycling and Gazprom were pulling hard to rely on the attackers like it has happened with 32 kms to go.

At the bottom of the final ascension to Etna, a climb of 20 kms, Simone Velasco was the first rider to attack but after 2 kms he was caught by the peloton led by the riders of team Wanty who were sending in front Odd Christian Eiking.

The norwegian rider, second in general classification at the start of the stage, never had an advantage of more than 30" and his attempt ended with 9 kms to go when Dayer Quintana made a move causing a big selection in the peloton.

The clombian rider, in a great condition, attacked again with 6500 metres to go creating a gap stable around 10-15 seconds on a chase group with McNulty, Masnada, Martin and Vlasov followed at 30" by another small group with Giovanni Visconti.

The bravery wasn't enough for Quintana who was caught and passed with 1.5 kms to go by Guillame Martin that with a terrifiyng attack was going for the stage win.

Quintana ended in 3rd achieving the third podium in four stages for the team Neri Sottoli - Selle Italia - KTM with Giovanni Visconti who ended in 6th place after a great comeback.

The final classification went to Brandon McNulty with both our athletes in top 10, Visconti in 5th and Quintana in 7th. The excellent team performance was confirmed by the 13th place of Edoardo Zardini and by the 16th place of Simone Velasco, a global effort that brought us to the victory in the team classification
