TOUR COLOMBIA 2.1: UMBERTO MARENGO WAS 6TH DESPITE YESTERDAY'S CRASH

Patched up and in pain, Umberto Marengo challenged yesterday's bad luck ending in 6th place the 3rd stage of the Tour Colombia 2.1. at the end of a day where the pace has been high since the beginning.

After 4 kms some of the most important GC leaders as Egan Bernal and Oscar Sevilla have launched an attack and many riders were dropped from the peloton in the first half of the race.

The profile of the second part of the stage suited the chase of the peloton and so the victory was decided in a mass sprint won again by Juan Sebastian Molano with Marengo, helped well by Veljko Stojnic and Etienne Van Empel, who was able to achieve his best result in this beginning of the season.

"After yesterday's crash I wanted an easy start to see how my body was going to react but the race was fast from the beginning. I felt better km after km and I managed to stay up in front. I wanted to join the sprint to thank my team mates who were always to my side and also because I was looking for a reaction after yesterday. The result it's a demonstration that the legs are good at the end of such an hard stage".

Tomorrow first uphill finish in Santa Rosa de Viterbo
