COPPA SABATINI: SIMONE VELASCO ON THE PODIUM IN PECCIOLI. VISCONTI HAS WON THE CHALLENGE TOSCANA

The streak of positive results of the team Neri Sottoli - Selle Italia - KTM carries on with the 3rd place achieved by Simone Velasco in a Coppa Sabatini that has been absolutely different from the last editions.

The protagonist of today was Alexey Lutsenko that has won after a solo attack of 80 kms in a race with a very fast pace since the beginning where we had Lorenzo Fortunato in a 16 riders attempt that the peloton has never let go.

With three laps to go Lutsenko could count an advantage of more than 2' on the chasers where Simone Velasco and Giovanni Visconti attacked with a small bunch of contenders. On the following counterattack, with two laps to go, the elbano rider opened a gap together with Sbaragli and Colbrelli.

In the sprint for the 2nd place Sonny Colbrelli was able to beat Velasco with both Visconti and Gabburo who finished just outside the top 10. For Velasco is the 5th podium in a season where he has been an absolute protagonist.

Thanks to the combined results of these two last races Giovanni Visconti has climbed on the podium as winner of the Challenge Toscana, a great performance just before the Memorial Pantani where at the end we will know the list of the riders selected for the World Championships.
