TIRRENO - ADRIATICO: VELJKO STOJNIC, A DAY IN THE BREAKAWAY

Vini Zabù - KTM in evidence also in the 6th stage of Tirreno - Adriatico with Veljko Stojnic who was back in the breakaway after his attempt in the first stage in Lido di Camaiore.

The serbian time trial national champion was in the head of the race for 143 of the 171 kms from Castelfidardo to Senigallia, a stage who suited the sprinters.

The adventure of Stojnic and the rest of the attackers ended with 13 kms to go when a launched peloton managed to close the gap.

"I'm very happy because after some days where I couldn't join the breakaways I have some positive sensations. The stage was hard as in the first hour and an half team Gazprom, that didn't have any riders in the breakaway, has pulled to bridge to us and so we had to make a very fast pace. When we entered the circuit we tried to resist as much as we could but it was very difficult to avoid the sprint. As days are passing by I feel always better and this is a good sign, now I hope to recovery tomorrow as I want to inaugurate my new jersey of national champion with a good result on monday's time trial".

Tim Merlier won the sprint with Riccardo Stacchiotti in 21st place and with Simon Yates who kept without any problem the blue jersey of the general classification.

Tomorrow stage 7 from Pieve Torina to Loreto, 181 tricky and demanding kms.
